This man rode by our cabin a few times per day on his way into the forest downriver to collect firewood. One day we stopped him and asked if we could take his picture. Afterward he and Uliana talked until the cold wind chased us back inside.

The days were short and sweet inside our cabin.
Karpaty (as Ukrainians call the Carpathian Mountains) treated us to a beautiful sunset on our last night.

It was an interesting challenge to try to describe the trip without the advantage of being able to edit and refine the writing afterward.
